I’m sorry I haven’t posted on here for such a long time – I really have been a busy old teacher.
We’ve had SATS and Arts Week and the Children’s centre opening and now our special Art exhibition – and I had a very exciting birthday in the middle of the holidays. Now I have got to get ready to stand in for Mr P when he starts his sabbatical!
I am going to try and make sure that I post more often – especially since I have got a few grumpy moans to tell you about!

I am really excited today because I have just bought a new car! My poor little red car was getting too old and bits kept falling off it.
My new car is a bit boring but I hope it won’t need its own special parking space at the garage. I’m not going to tell you what it is – see if you can spot it in the car park when you come back to school on the 7th!

I have had a sneaky peeky at the thumbnail prints of your school photographs. They look brilliant – just like those very posh photos you see in the White Rose centre. I can’t wait to see the real thing! It will probably be after Easter now.

There is nothing more guaranteed to turn a grumpy old teacher into a very grumpy old teacher than a school without children. I miss all your smiling faces and detention was very lonely without you!
It is absolutely freezing in school without any heating – we have managed to put new electric heaters in 6D, 6G, 5H and 5T so I am looking forward to seeing Y5 and Y6 on Monday – but it is much too cold for the other children to be in school.
Good news for Years 5 and 6 is that there is about a ton of fruit that needs eating up next week so I think it will be free fruit every day. You will have the playground to yourselves as well. I think you will be very grumpy when the others come back!

I hope that you have seen the wonderful cup that our athletes won this week -I think it might be too big for our trophy cabinet!
I won the first medal I have ever won in my life last week. It was for playing a Finnish game called Mölkky. I came third in our teachers’ competition. Mrs H won one as well for her very interesting techniques for playing the game!
If you would like to see how to play Mölkky, here is a link:

A little bird told me that we might be getting a Mölkky set of our own in October. I’ll be able to show off to you all!

You might have noticed the black eye that I got when I tripped over in a toy shop in Austria – I did try to tell people I did it while I was ski-ing but they didn’t believe me. When you leave your coats and book bags on the cloakroom floor – ESPECIALLY YOU BREAKFAST CLUBBERS - I am always worried that someone is going to trip over them and get a black eye – or a broken arm. Please pick them up, even if they don’t belong to you. It is no good making sure your cloakroom is tidy when Mr P is doing cloakroom awards and then having a big mess the rest of the time! (Of course you all know that I am the tidiest teacher in the world!)

When we were in Austria it was nearly Carnival time and the shops were full of fancy dress costumes, masks and hats. Some people couldn’t resist them!

… children who see when I am in a hurry and let me come past them.
… children who stop to let younger children through.
… children who hold the door open for other people.
Good manners don’t cost anything at all and make the world a nicer place to be!

… children running in corridors.
… children walking beautifully BUT with their hands in their pockets or their arms folded.
Both of these are dangerous and might leave you with a squished nose. SO DON’T DO IT. Please.
